There are, in reality, quite a lot of teenage groups who travel together. For example, youth church groups often spend weekends or even longer for trips. Moreover, sports teams also often have to stay in different cities and towns for games. Of course, there are also school trips where students explore other regions as well.
Of all accommodation types out there, hostels and bunkhouses are the best options for these teenage groups. Here are some of the reasons why:
1. They are cheaper
For most teenagers, hotel rooms or in large luxury cottages are too expensive. On the other hand, hostels and bunkhouses are normally much cheaper, because the rooms are shared with many others. Thankfully, most of these young travellers do not also need such privacy that these hotel rooms normally offer. Teenagers are more willing to share rooms with each other, especially since this makes the accommodations much more affordable.
2. They are big enough
Some teenage groups that travel together can reach around 20 to even 30 in headcount. Although hotels and cottages might be able to provide enough space, organisers will have to book quite a number of rooms as most will offer at maximum 3 people in a room. On the other hand, hostels and bunkhouses have normally 4 to even 12 beds in one room. This allows the teenagers to stay as a group in a room.
3. They allow the teenagers to socialise
When teens travel as a group, their focus is to spend time with each other. Therefore, any accommodation option that does not provide them with public spaces to spend time together is not preferable. Although cottages are also an option because they have areas where everyone can congregate, they might not really be enough for 20 people or more. On the other hand, hostels have public areas like canteens and even games rooms to give them enough space and entertainment options for free time.
4. They have an option for self-catering
When traveling as a large group, going to restaurants will be a challenge. It will cost more and finding a large table for everyone can be difficult. Self-catering accommodation is the perfect option, which hostels and bunkhouses provide. This way, they can prepare their own meals as a group for much less money. Cooking together also allows them to work together and learn important skills like food preparation and cleaning up. Most tend to divide the chores into smaller groups so that everyone has the experience to prepare for others.
5. They are easy to find
Hostels can be found in almost every city and even in smaller villages. Moreover, they can also be found in great locations, with good public transport connections. Teenage group travel organisers, then, do not have to look long and hard to find enough space for everyone. Staying all together in one hostel and if possible, in two or three rooms, will make organising the group easier.
Organising and accompanying a group of teenagers traveling together can be quite difficult, not just because a group has very specific needs, but also because there are more people to consider and bring together. Thankfully, there are hostels and bunkhouses that provide them the perfect solution that meets their requirements fully.
